A Note From Amber

Dear families,

I'm excited to partner with ArtzHub this summer for camps! In the musical afternoons from 1pm-5pm, we will be writing songs, making instruments, playing ukulele, relaxing into yoga, and celebrating our creative selves! I've recently moved back to Chapel Hill-Carrboro after a 12-year adventure in Washington DC. While there, I wrote music, performed in bands, taught in various settings, and recorded professional CDs.

Moving back here has been such a beautiful return! I taught middle school band and chorus at Smith Middle last time I was here (pre-babies, and in my 20s), so much has changed and so much has stayed the same. It has been lucky and wonderful to cross paths with Kim at ArtzHub and to find where I newly fit in around here. I went into two elementary schools this past week and wrote some songs with whole classes and it was so much fun! I really can't wait to teach an in-person summer camp with all it's good-vibe summer energy and joy.

I will have smaller music camp groups this summer, so kids can shout out and move at their own pace and work together in different groupings as we go. I love both small and large groups, but this summer I'm looking forward to our supportive little community we will have in camp. Some of the camps haven't reached their 'minimum enrollment' yet, so please feel free to share with friends and neighbors, or let me know who to invite since I'm newer around here. So many well wishes your way. ;)
