What Helping Out Means/ All Mentors & Volunteers

1st Summer Mentors (ages 12-14)

1st Summer Mentors are expected to enhance the overall experience of the campers by modeling positive behavior, at all times. They show an awareness of what is happening around them and are eager to participate in making camp run smoothly. Simply put, 1st Summer Mentors help us by role modeling positive behavior and by being tuned in to his/her fellow campers.

Returning Mentors (ages 13-14)

Returning Mentors are expected to enhance the overall experience of the campers by lending a hand, as needed, and by modeling positive behavior, at all times. They are proactive kids that recognize what needs to be done. They show initiative by asking us if they can help by handing out materials, letting us know if a younger camper needs our help, offering to show a new camper where the bathroom is, etc. They will put other campers before themselves and actively contribute to the camp, as needed, even if they do not finish their own projects.

Volunteers (ages 15 and up)

Volunteers are expected to enhance the overall experience of the campers by lending a hand and by modeling positive behavior, at all times. They will put the needs of campers before themselves, at all times. They are proactive young adults that recognize what needs to be done. They show maturity, initiative and gumption by stepping in to help younger campers, if and when needed. They actively and mindfully contribute to the overall success of the camp.

The Nitty-Gritty

Everyone that participates at camp must acknowledge this opportunity as a privilege.

We all have good intentions but sometimes things go awry. This is a learning experience designed to foster positive role modeling, proactive helping, team-building and accountability. We absolutely wish to see everyone succeed.

Our programming is designed to be fun and relaxed but at the same time we take camper safety seriously and will not allow unacceptable behavior to create a problem for our camp.

Mentors and Volunteers are not responsible for discipline, but they do provide an extra set of eyes/ears during camp hours.

Mentors and Volunteers must be ready, willing and able to help us maintain the safety of all campers, at all times. This is our highest priority.
