Your Child Chooses The Art Lesson
For The Group
Does your child have something specific in mind that he/she would like to learn how to draw? Like a unicorn or a peacock or a giraffe or an ice cream sundae or perhaps an imaginary scene from Mars?
Let me know. Chances are, I probably have it! Check out the art lesson choices for art parties to see if any appeal to your child. If I don’t have the exact subject your child is thinking of, I’ll suggest other lessons in the same ballpark and provide examples so your child can choose.
My Virtual Art Studio Is Ready
My online art classes and parties, conducted on Zoom, provide a soothing space where people of all ages feel safe, supported and connected.
No previous experience is necessary to enjoy this creative experience.
My gentle, step-by-step instruction provides the a just the right amount of structure and freedom so that participants feel supported and yet empowered to exercise their artistic license.
Each person’s resulting artwork will be unique and everyone will remember it as quality time well spent.
What Party Participants Will Need
I teach kids how to draw one-step-at-a-time using (fine) black permanent marker on (9X12”) acid free white art paper.
My “no mistakes in art” approach to drawing emphasizes creative problem solving skills by teaching kids how to turn lines they don’t like into something else.
Acid free paper won’t turn yellow or crumble and sharpies provide a strong, bold line that won’t smudge when water based art supplies are used to finish the drawing. Both acid free white art paper and sharpies are readily available at many stores like Target, Walmart, Michaels, Staples and Office Max.
A simple poster board mat under the artwork will protect any work surface and can be used over and over.
When the drawing is complete, party participants may use whatever art supplies they have at home to finish their drawings. Crayons, markers, colored pencils or watercolor paint, for example, are common household art supplies. Any of these, in any combination, will work nicely.
Some Party Hosts Provide Goodie Bags With Art Supplies
ArtzHub does not sell art supplies but we do have specific things we recommend, if you want to purchase art supplies and provide them in goodie bags to party participants.
A few sheets of 9X12 inch acid free white art paper
If you want to provide something other than markers, be sure to check out the ArtzHub Recommended Art Supplies page of my website.
Some families also include a sweet treat in the goodie bag so that kids can all enjoy eating something fun together at the end of the party.

We’ll Get Through This Together
ArtzHub is an independent non-profit organization based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Before the pandemic, our classes, camps and parties took place in schools, churches, clubhouses, cafes, restaurants, parks and in private homes. When everything shut down in March of 2020, we frantically scrambled to pivot to virtual programming, not knowing what the outcome would be. The learning curve was steep - for all of us - but we did it. We’re still learning but we are standing. ArtzHub has been able to survive during this unprecedented time of uncertainty because of families like yours. We are deeply grateful for your interest and support as well as humbled by the way our community has shown up for us. Now, more than ever, we are committed to providing exceptional creative enrichment programming to all of our families - near and far!
Your support is vital and it means a lot. Thank you!
